New Dawn Developments has received recognition from the Kimberley Rotary Club as the largest single corporate donor in the Club's recent campaign to raise money for Haiti, which was hit by a devastating earthquake in January. In June, Chad Jensen, President of New Dawn Developments, accepted a recognition plaque from Graham Mann, Area Ambassador for the Kimberley Rotary Club and Disaster Aid Canada (formerly ShelterBox Canada).

Between January and April, the Kimberley Rotary Club's campaign raised $26,000, which was all sent to Haiti. The donation by New Dawn Developments and its employees, when matched by the federal government, totalled $6,000. All the money raised by the Club was used to purchase shelter boxes, which are boxes of aid that supply extended families of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.

"We are proud of our employees and the spirit of giving they demonstrate time and again to people in need," says Jensen. "Helping with the relief efforts in Haiti was just one more way our company and our team felt we could make a difference." The funds raised for Haiti from New Dawn Developments included donations from employees as well as a corporate donation made by the company's Pay It Forward Committee, an employee group that determines how to allocate New Dawn's donations budget.

Since the Kimberley Rotary Club began supporting the ShelterBox Canada (now Disaster Aid Canada) program in 2008, the Club has raised funds to purchase 33 shelter boxes to help people in Haiti, Italy, Chile and Malawi.
