Wow! What an adventure! It all started in September when we hiked through the dirt piles at Legacy Lookout with Rick and Sherry. We did our best to imagine the subdivision, but looking at the mountain view didn’t take any imagination at all. Our leap of faith decision to purchase the lot and build a house was a little scary at first, but the team at New Dawn were so great to deal with our fears were alleviated in no time.
The process started with house plan choices and customizations. We gave Sherry our wish list and the designers came back with suggestions and options…multiple times. They never made us feel rushed, pressured, or that our ideas were less than genius.
Once we had a plan, it was time to consider all the details, and there are so many! Sherry was amazing; she took us through the details one room at a time. The in-house design centre at New Dawn was so comfortable. The displays and options helped us focus and not get overwhelmed as we chose everything from siding to taps.
Once construction started, our binder of details was passed on to an interior designer who helped us choose flooring, tile, cabinets, and other fine details. The site supervisor was only a text message away and more than willing to spend time with us at the house as we progressed through framing, drywall, and finishing.
New Dawn’s website promotes being on time and on budget and it’s absolutely true. We expected construction to take six months from ground breaking, but we moved in in five months! The budget – wow! We had a price with details in the contract before the shovel hit the ground. Any changes had to be agreed to in writing so there were no surprises. In the end, our final price was minimally different from the original price, and the difference was because we made changes.

Before I decided to build my dream home, I was full of reservations about the actual build process as I had never had a home built from the ground up before. “Everyone” had stories to share about their experiences that quite frankly scared me to death. In the end after numerous planning visits and many cups of coffee and yes even another change in my decision I decided to actually make it happen. I truly believe this was due to Sherry’s perseverance and understanding that I realized I could put everything into her and New Dawn’s hands. She helped me believe my dream could happen.
We spent many hours going through the initial phase of choosing the right plan to fit my lifestyle and my budget. Then I needed to make decisions about other choices for my home – together decisions were made! At least so I thought but then I changed my mind. I finally did finalize my choices but not without a lot of guidance and direction from Sherry and Rebecca. They just seemed to know what would work for me even though I was so unsure myself. They both respected my good and not so good ideas as well as my concerns and just as importantly staying within my budget.
My home was completed right on target for the timeline they gave me. The fantastic part is that my home is really beautiful and sits on a lot overlooking a golf course but does not look out of place. It fits right in with the surroundings. I love enjoying a cup of coffee early in the morning watching the sunrise above the mountains and thinking “this is all mine”. Now I am looking forward to sharing my home with family and friends.

Building a ski-in, ski-out house in a stunning location was a once-in-a-life-time opportunity for us. Rick and the whole team at New Dawn Developments made this dream a reality in a completely stress-free way. We live in the UK and although my job is managing multi billion-dollar construction contracts, when it came to a personal project 7000 km away it was a new challenge. The whole team at New Dawn really helped bridge the distance, with regularly communication and progress updates. From standing on a snow cover plot on New Years Day 2015 to being in a finished house in mid December the same year is a fantastic achievement, one of which the whole team at New Dawn should be proud of. Post-construction follow up has been incredible. There were very few items to be addressed after possession, however, any time we called with questions or concerns we received prompt replies and resolution of the issue.
